The Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques at the College of Health and Medical Technologies College of Health and Medical Technologies organized Alnoor University,On Wednesday, 15 April 2026, a scientific workshop titled (The Effect of Radiation on Microorganisms) was held, delivered by Dr. muna taher mohammed
The workshop addressed the definition of types of radiation and their various effects on microorganisms, highlighting the mechanisms of action on microbial cells, whether through inducing mutations, inhibiting growth, or eliminating microorganisms. The lecturer also discussed the practical applications of radiation in medical sterilization and material preservation, in addition to outlining the potential risks and methods of protection.
